INTRODUCTION/HISTORY:

            The Badshahi Masjid/Mosque is situated in Lahore, the capital of Punjab Province is considered to be the iconic landmark of Muslims history. The Masjid is along with the Lahore Historical Fort. The tomb of Allama Mohammad Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan and also the Poet of East is also there in the courtyard of Badshahi Masjid. The Masjid was built by Mughal Emperor Aurangzaib between 1671 and 1673. The Mosque is the sign of Mughals Architect having red stones tiles with marble inner layout. It is the second greatest mosque in Pakistan. The Mosque, the holy place was used as garrison by the English and Sikh government because they do not knew the importance of such a holy place.

            The tomb of Sir Sikander Hayat Khan (Prime minister of Punjab between 1937 to 1942) is also there in the courtyard of the holy Mosque.

            There were thirteen gates of Lahore at the time of Mughal Empire used by the people for entering in Lahore city and one of those is Roshnai Gate (Lightning Gate) is located just at the entrance of Badshahi Majid.

            The height of the minaret of Majid is almost 54m and there is a capacity of almost 100,000 people to offer prayer at a time.

EXACT LOCATION:

            The Badshahi Masjid is located in the west of Lahore near the Walled City and beside of Minar e Pakistan. The Lahore Fort is situated near the main gate of Badshahi Majid.

HOW CAN WE REACH THE PLACE?

            If you are coming from Rawalpindi then the best way to reach Lahore is by train. The train journey is the comfortable way. The easiest but expensive way is by air as Lahore airport is there to accommodate you. For that purpose you have to take a flight from Islamabad New Airport and then land on Lahore Airport. After reaching Lahore city you can hire a taxi,rickshaw or through local transport can reach the Grand Badshahi Masjid. The orange train and Metro bus can also be used and I will recommend to must travel through orange train to enjoy the journey.

BEST TIME TO VISIT:

            As Lahore is a very hot city so must plan your visit in between September and April to avoid the scorching heat and to fully enjoy your travel. 

            I would also recommend to visit on Friday to have the sight of Tabbarukat (Holy Things) being kept in one room and on every Friday the arrangement is made for the sight.
