THE MAJESTY ROHTAS FORT-JEHLUM-PAKISTAN

INTRODUCTION/HISTORY:

            Rohtas Fort was established in 1541 by Sher Shah Suri. The fort is famous for its bulky style, strong walls majestic size. In 1997 UNESCO declared the fort as "World Heritage Site". It was a garrison fort and used during war and accommodated the army of 30,000.  The great Mughal administrator Sher Shah Suri, the original name Farid Khan established this majestic fort for security purpose and the best thing about this fort is that it was never damaged by any of the enemies. Sher Shah Suri took control of Mughal Empire on 1540 and through his wisdom and economic policies (Issued first Rupiya)  his reign is considered as the golden period of Sur Dynasty. The grand trunk (GT Road) was also established by the great Sher Shah Suri, the Farid Kahn. 

EXACT LOCATION:

            The great garrison fort is situated on the Dina Jehlum Road, Punjab, Pakistan. The site board is there on the main road pointing towards the fort. It is almost 103km from Rawalpindi city. It is 8km of Dina City from the main GT road.

HOW CAN WE REACH ROHTAS FORT?
                
            From Rawalpindi, if we move on to GT road then after reaching Dina-Jehlum we have to move to north. After about 8km we will sea the majestic Rohtas Fort. We can travel by bus and can also hire the coaches. It is very easy to approach the historical site as the road is in a very good position. You can find the canteen and other eatables inside the fort. The guides are also there to explain you in details about the historical fort.

BEST TIME TO VISIT:

            Due to scorching heat from May to August, if you are planning to visit (and I really hope that you people will definitely plan) such a historical place then must come between September to April as this will be the idea weather to come and enjoy the majesty and history of the place.
