INTRODUCTION/HISTORY:

The Kelimutu cavity lakes are the mysterious places which have a secret in their own. Sitting at the highest point of the Kelimutu fountain of liquid magma in Indonesia, every one of the three water bodies has its own color and properties. Furthermore, nobody exactly tells us the reason behind this great natural phenomenon.

More bizarre still is the way that a portion of the lakes have changed shading from the beginning of time. The color of one of them, the Ata Polo, was white. Today, it is a dull earthy colored. Another of the lakes used to be red, while today it bears greenish blue or turquoise tone.

To be exact, the other two lakes are: Lake of Old People, or Tiwi Ata Mbupu, and Lake of Young Men and Maidens, additionally called Tiwu Nua Muri Kooh Tai.

EXACT LOCATION:

Kelimutu Volcanic Lakes are around 45 minutes away from the Moni. You can also reach the Ende city by air and it will take almost 40 minutes. Three to four hours are needed to reach the nearby area of tri-shaded mysterious from the Ende.

The best time to the tri-shaded mysterious lakes is the dry season of Indonesia which remains from May to September. It will be the ideal time to visit as at that time its mostly sunny and the clear climate enhance the beauty of tri-shaded mysterious lakes. The climatic changes are so sudden so I suggest to visit the Moni in the very early in the morning to reach the sight and enjoy.
